Lindsay Marie Smith is currently a Teacher of Record at Texas Tech University, where she is pursing a D.M.A in horn performance. In 2013, she received a Bachelors degree in music education from Abilene Christian University and in 2016 completed a Masters degree in horn performance from Baylor University. Currently she is studying with Professor Christopher M. Smith at Texas Tech. Previous teachers include Jeffrey Powers, Jason Missal, Roger Kaza, and Bruce Henniss. She holds a professional position as 4th horn with Lubbock Symphony and has played with several other Texas orchestras. In the past she has also served a one-year position as 4th Horn with Amarillo Symphony, Principal horn with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston, and has performed as a freelance musician for a variety of musicals and operas. Previous awards include winning the 2015 International Horn Quartet Competition, non-professional division, at the International Horn Society Convention in Los Angeles, CA as well as the Texas 2016 MTNA Wind Quintet Competition. She has been featured as a soloist with the ACU Orchestra, Pasadena Philharmonic (Pasadena, TX), and the Clear Lake Symphony. Outside of orchestral playing and collaborating with other musicians in a chamber setting including the outreach brass and woodwind quintets, Lindsay is passionate about connecting the community to music in a variety of ways. This passion led her to co-found “Music & Me, a program designed to introduce children on the autism spectrum to the benefits of music, while in her undergraduate program at ACU. In 2012 she received the volunteer of the year award from the Abilene Autism foundation for her work in developing this program.
